OD Batch ID

  • 1.  OD Batch ID

    Posted 4 days ago
    Hello

We have been asked to provide the OD Batch ID which consists of (2 letters and 2 numbers) from a utility company who wants to submit permit through eTon.  I have checked our OD file, the only reference i could find the SWR organisation code which is 5060 and 'AG' and organisation prefix code but could not find the Batch ID they are referring to, can someone point me in the direction on where i find this.

    From OD file
        <OrganisationName>Street Authority Code</OrganisationName>

        <OrganisationID>5060</OrganisationID>

        <OrganisationPrefix>AG</OrganisationPrefix>

    Many Thanks

    Hi Afzal,
That doesn't sound like they're asking for the right thing. To submit a permit via EToN they need to have loaded in their street works system both your Organisation & Operational District (OD) details, and also your Local Street Gazetteer for Barking and Dagenham. They should be able to download both of these from the Geoplace Hub so long as they've got a login.
When they then raise the permit application on their street works system the road that they click on will determine who the OD is that "owns" that road, the system will then look up the contact details from the OD also loaded in their system, and send the permit application to the correct authority.
Just the SWA code won't do them much good unfortunately.
Depending on which software provider they're with they might be able to get them to load all that on their behalf.

    Regards
    Lesley

    Thanks Lesley,

The company is trying to setup the streetwork module via Symology, the symolgy is requested is.  I have provided them with a copy of our OD file and require  District Code.

    Not sure what this is?

    Hi Afzal,
That's strange - the OD file should have your district code in it, and the SWA ref as well - once they load it, so long as they have your street gazetteer loaded already, I can't see why they'd need anything else. Symology would know all of this and if they are managing it for them then they would do the loading of everything as well.
Is it a new sub-contractor for a utility setting up their street works system for the very first time? Is your utility sure that it definitely is your Highway Authority SWA code that is being requested? The utility would need to have one too to identify their own transactions. It might be worth getting them to check they understand what they're being asked for just in case you do a lot of unnecessary work tracking down the wrong thing? Street works is a notoriously confusing area and Symology might be setting up their OD for them.
I notice the new downloads aren't available yet from the Geoplace hub - looks like they're being refreshed at the moment. I would have had a quick look at your OD but can't just now.
I should ask them to double check what Symology is asking for - let us know how they respond.
    Regards
    Lesley

    Hi Afzal,
Ah - is the company in question actually working as a sub-contractor for you, the council, to maintain your own infrastructure? Such as street lighting or crash barriers or other works for road purposes?
If that is the case then if the agreement is that they do so as part of your Organisation then you can assign them a district from your own OD file - but with a different webserver URL to send the permits from/to unless they're actually logging into your system.
If that is the case then the scenario is different. Let us know if it is that - does change the advice quite a lot.
    Regards

    Hello Leslie,

The company is question is RandM lighting and they are not our sub-contractor, however, going to back to the email from them, this is what this requested..

My name is Dana and I have spoken to you in the phone just now and I trying to obtain a OD Batch code.

I work for R and M Lighting company and we are required to undertake work on behalf of JD Decaux ( installing feeder pillar of advertisement boards) in your area. To ensure that we are able to serve notices to yourself in compliance with NRSWA, we would like to make a application to work as an Authority Promoter under the umbrella of your Organisation.

We have secured an EToN compliant system from Symology and would require from yourselves a batch code within your Organisation under which we can serve notices to yourselves.

If you could please get back to me on this to either provide the number or to point me in the right direction or who to contact to get this, I would be very grateful.

    Hi Afzal,
From that email they are indeed requesting to work under your Organisation.
I'll drop you a message - might be easiest to have a quick phone call/email?

    Hi Afzal

As Lesley says, the utility company should get your OD Batch file from Geoplace Hub.  If that works for all your other utility companies it should be sufficient for the new one.

If you want to export your OD Batch file from Confirm for them you can use the steps outlined in the knowledge article Exporting an OD Batch file in Confirm Street Works.
