Hello people - This is probably the wrong community, though I've been unable to locate any answers elsewhere. Can someone tell me where to find the ruler tool (not the ruler window)? I haven't used the Li360 group for a while, therefore I'm not familiar with the new Knowledge Community. I'm using V17.0.3. Thanks

    Hi Jason,

You should be able to find this in the Map Window under OPTIONS >  MAP TOOLS

    Cheers,

    Hi Jon
Thanks for your reply, though I require the ruler that is used in the Layout. There used to be such a ruler for the V15.0 32 bit Layout.
Sorry, I should have been more specific.
    Regards
    Jason

The ruler used in the Layout window (attached below) in the 32-bit versions of MapInfo Pro is not available in 64-bit version of MapInfo Pro.

To replicate the same in 64-bit versions of MapInfo Pro, the recommendation would be to setup the grid to the desired size and adjust margins accordingly. (example below)

You can change the grid size to display in other units by going into Options> System Setting Preferences.
Also, please note that the grid starts at the margins (not the edge) of the paper.

    Hi Jason,

Welcome to the group, you are at the right place!

In the 17.0.3 version, we have the Quick Search tool at the top right hand corner. You can type in the keyword and  search any Ribbon commands or tools. It will give you all the options available and the navigation path as well , makes it very easy.

    Hi Jason

Further to the assistance provided earlier, you can also customise either the Quick Access toolbar that sits above the various ribbons or the mini toolbars in the Map & Layout windows that appear under a right-click.
To customise, simply click on the down-arrow at the R/H end of the Quick Access toolbar at the top L/H side of the screen and choose "More Commands".
This will take you into a dialog where you can customise the various toolbars in MapInfo (eg. Map, Layout & Quick Access) to include the tools/functions of your preference.
For example, I have my Ruler tool included in my Map Toolbar so that when I right-click in a map window it is there for me to use, amongst my other favourite map window functions/tools.
    Hope this is of assistance.
