Hi Neil, First, select all records that contain a space: Select * From [table name] Where [field name] like "% %" Into updateTable Update updateTable Set [field name] = Mid$([field name], instr(1,[field name]," ")+1, len([field name])-instr(1,[field name]," ")+1) Then check the results in case you need ...

Hi George, You can do something like the following: First, declare new variable sValue: Dim sValue As StringDim sValue As String Then, before your update statement, use this: Do Case ColumnInfo("temptable", sColName, COL_INFO_TYPE) ' Handle String Fields Case COL_TYPE_CHAR sValue = "99999" ' Handle ...

Hi Stuart, You can select the lines from your table using the following query: Select * from YourTable where str$(obj) in ("line","polyline") into lines Then delete the lines.  I would also pack the table. If you use Buffer --> Buffer Table instead of Buffer Objects, you can create the buffer polygons ...

Hi Fiaz, I've come up with the following.  This could probably be done more accurately programmatically or using an alternative but see what you think. Rotate the polygon so that the polygon is on its side (with its straight edge running east-west). I did this by trial and error but you could calculate ...

Hi Maria, As far as I know, if you are wanting to display the Google Street View in the left-hand info panel, then you need to use the "Map Embed API".  From my notes at the time: "this provides 'Embed' and 'Embed Advanced' options.  SSA uses the 'Embed Advanced' option to provide the  Street View . ...

Hi Neil, Yes, you can use the Update Column.  First you may need to issue the following statement: Set CoordSys Table PointsTab This will ensure you are dealing with the correct coordinate system.  Then, within the Value field of the Update Column dialogue, use the following: If extracting X coordinates: ...

Hi Peter, You might like to find objects that intersect but are not entirely within, as in Bob's script.  Or objects that are within a distance but not intersecting.  But this can be left to the advanced SQL Window I imagine (or an Advanced version of the Select By Location?) ------------------------------ ...

Hi Bob, Thanks for your script.  I am unable to test because I have yet to upgrade, but this may fail where you have intersecting polygons that happen to fall entirely within the combined selection but are not actually part of the initial selection.  They will be left out of the results won't they? ...

Hi Peter, Thanks for keeping us informed of the latest SQL and other improvements.  I like this one and many others.  Just wondering: if " Spherical is used for Lat/Long data and Cartesian is used for projected data", then could the Distance Method be determined automatically? I think that comparing ...

Hi  Marijan, I wasn't previously aware of the MARS_Connection parameter (which provides support for multiple result sets in SQL Server connections) but try setting this to No.  Also, does your connection string in the TAB file include a DSN parameter?  Maybe MapInfo is trying to use an ODBC connection ...

When opening an older workspace, you can always try modifying the Version number in Notepad; e.g. to "!Version 1500".  This will allow MapInfo to at least attempt to open the workspace - and will report any errors it encounters.  Further edits (such as deletion of the Printer statement) may then allow ...

Hi  Marijan, I just make sure my credentials within the TAB file are valid (by editing in a text editor).  E.g. "Trusted_Connection=Yes" or "UID=gis;PWD=gis".  Perhaps the credentials you are using in the tables that link to the views do not provide you with access to all of the SQL Server tables used ...

Hi David, How do you run your mbx programs?  Does the message only appear when you double-click on the mbx file to launch MapInfo and run the mbx at the same time?  That is when I occasionally see this message, and I believe it has to do with Windows using file association to send some kind of message ...

In that case, draw a new polygon that crosses the line you would like removed.  Once you have done this, set the large polygon as the target (Ctrl+T), then select the new polygon, and choose the Erase Target tool from the Spatial tab. When drawing the new polygon, try to snap to the existing nodes ...
